- Swamps / Things by Kassel Jaeger
Rewind to 2012 and there I was blathering on about this guy called Kassel Jaeger who creates these really mysterious electroacoustic sound worlds. Then some years later I discover that Kassel Jaeger is not actually the name of a human man at all, but that the person in question is actually called François Bonnet. It spun me out on a level only comparable to discovering that wrestling was fixed. How could this nugget of vital information have passed me by? How could I not know that he was the artistic director at Groupe de Recherches Musicales? Were my friends I like to have conversations with regarding musique concrète sniggering behind my back? I felt so embarrassed, betrayed, even violated... but now as I drift away to explore uncharted meridians of the mind via his new record on Shelter Press, all is forgiven.
