Each year we think it might turn up even though we've been as good as gold all year but like Santa himself it never lets us down. This year we get an 8 track album of all new exclusive material from the ambient guitar whizz and there's just 100 copies so order quick or Christmas is ruined.

8/10 Jamie 11 December 2019

All together now; “Have yourselves -- a merry little (yellow)6mas…” Yes, it’s very nearly Christmas and how do I know this? Apart from not being able to get out anywhere without being bombarded by a sonic shower of Mariah Carey, Wham and Noddy bloody Holder, well it’s the return of Jon Attwood and his explorative, slow guitar shifts as yellow6. ‘DECAY (merry6mas2019)’ is this week’s festive harbinger then. Mind you, it probably won’t be the jolliest thing you’ll hear all week (unless you work in a mine).

What this CD does contain is a number of very nice guitar-based tunes using key components such as the quiet-to-loud strategy; the cyclical motif, often spinning off at oblique tangents, strategy; the melodic drone methodology and occasional bursts of noise amongst all the atmospheric post-rockisms.

Track 2, ‘The Flowers Fall (By The Roadside)’ is one such longform bit of loveliness; one for observing stuff through a bus window to, all slow-motion-y.

Perfect to drift off too, possibly for that well-earnt snooze after your big turkey / nut roast and chocolates indulgences this festive season.

The shiny disc arrives in a beautiful lino-print sleeve and is well limited so get one now or be forever disappointed (until this December 2020 obviously).
