Alone Together by Lee Konitz

I guess there are classic modern jazz albums and there’s Alone Together by Alto Sax player Lee Konitz. His 1996 debut album was recently placed at number 38 in a pole of the best Blue Note albums of all time. It has won praise for its refreshing takes on jazz standards. Given the label’s back catalogue, that’s quite a feat. Konitz is accompanied by Brad Mehldau on piano and Charlie Haden on bass.
