Reggatta De Blanc by The Police was originally released in 1979. It was their second album and the one that saw their punk-ish reggae-ish blend of pop and rock hit the big time. The album itself reached number one and it contained two number one singles in Message In A Bottle and Walking On The Moon.

9/10 Ross Holloway 7th November 2019

What a great album this is. They may have become more boring and more pretentious as time went on, but on their second album they are simply a mind blowingly good power trio.

Their level of musicianship is so elevated that they could never truly be punk, but in picking up and mashing up the punk, new wave and reggae currents of the day they whipped up a bunch of absolutely thrilling and compelling tunes. What's more, before Sting worried about saving the rainforest and having 8 hour tantric sex sessions, he wrote brilliantly about male pain.

Plus we get more input from Summers and Copeland. Which is good because the Police were at their best as a band, not Sting and two other fellas.
