Pour Me A Grog: The Funaná Revolt in 1990s Cabo Verde by Various

'Pour Me A Grog' is a loving examination of funaná, a music based on the gaita (accordion) instrument originating in Cabo Verde in the second half of the 20th century. In the context of colonial rule, it was a heavily policed music, but in the 90s, when the islands held their first democratic elections, the scene’s leading lights were finally let loose in studios. This is a snapshot of that time.
