Joe Meek’s I Hear A New World was a quiet revolution. One of the first concept albums, this LP should have set the world on fire at the start of the 1960s but various production problems meant that only a handful of songs from it got a hyper-limited EP release. 'I Hear A New World' lay dormant until 1991 when the audio was restored the record issued in full. This new set presents both versions side by side. One can only imagine how different popular music might have been if this had made it to wax at the start of the 60s - the psychedelic, star-gazing futuro-skiffle here was way ahead of its time. Artists like Daphne Oram, Vernon Elliott and Spiritualized all owe a huge debt to 'I Hear A New World'.
