The debut single from Scotland-based Vetchinsky Settings (I'm sure that name has a story behind it). On 'Anymore' the duo formed of one James (The Orchids) and one Mark (The Montgolfier Brothers / GNAC) unveil their gentle indie sound. The b-side features two tracks exclusive to this release 'Why Can't That Happen To Me?' and 'Someone Like You’. On Vertical Features.

Guess what? It's my last day at my job and I'm basically doing what I like. Not that I'm not working of course. I'm just reviewing stuff I like before I go. Phil just wandered over with a 7" saying "while you still work here you might as well do something". Luckily it was a collaboration between Mark Tramner (The Montgolfier Brothers etc) and James Hackett (the Orchids). Long term readers of my spiels will know that I'm a major fan of both artists so it's quite fitting that this is the last thing I do whilst a fully paid up Norman Records guy.

It's, as you may imagine, gorgeous. The A Side 'Anymore' is made up of a glorious piano based soundtracky sounding backing whilst James Hackett's distinctive voice floats on top with some very innovative melodies and wordsmithery. It's quite the loveliest thing indeed. There's a couple of B sides too. I'm on something called Someone Like You and I swear this isn't James Hackett singing....it's much more Scottish than him. It's a nice track though that will appeal to people who like the soft shoed side of Teenage Fanclub and their offshoots. There's another song too that I haven't heard so it's a nice old fashioned type 3 track 7".
