It's the Trilogy Tapes! Before I listened to this I assumed it would be 'cool dance music' and lo and behold it was. For Regional / Loss their TTT release FFT have a lot of fun with rhythms, drums pinging off each other in all kinds of erratic shapes backed with the occasional acidic squelch. Probably been played out a million times on the Hessle Audio Rinse FM show already.

- Regional / Loss by FFT
'Regional / Loss' by FFT is all kinds of good. Heavy, fractured beats, Detroit vibes, songs that actually progress, what's not to love? 'Regional' is a trip into murky, moody techno that more than hints at Squarepusher / Venetian Snares madness. At very nearly ten minutes long, this is a pretty hefty track but it never outstays its welcome. There are moments where everything drops away and a blissful quietude reigns. This is where things get really interesting, with an ambient epilogue underpinned by crackling remnants of the techno that came before. 'Loss' carries on in the same theme, though it does get a bit heavier and harder. There's also a lovely few seconds of complete silence, before what sounds like an alien singing while having a coughing fit. Both 'Regional' and 'Loss' are copper-bottomed bangers and make no mistake. COP 'EM!
