Black Zone Magick Chant perhaps predictably, are interested in the psychedelic. On Voyage Sacrifice, they let their frenetic drones seep into every nook and cranny of your consciousness. Always moving, always changing, this is music one can very easily disappear into without being heard from again. On Shelter Press.

French artist Maxime Primault has released music under many names over the years; High Wolf Annapurna Illusion, Iibiis Rooge, Enfer Boréal to name but a few. Most recently he's been operating as Black Zone Myth Chant with some great records on Low Jack's Editions Gravats and tapes on his own Winged Sun label. Now it seems that the DNA of Black Zone Myth Chant has mutated into Black Zone Magick Chant for a record on Félicia Atkinson & Bartolemé Sanson’s increasingly reliable Shelter Press imprint. Black Zone Magick Chant could perhaps be perceived as Black Zone Myth Chant's evil twin - wandering ever deeper into darker psychedelic realms. This is super trippy stuff - it feels as though we’ve been taken in by some alien tribe and are witnessing their way of life, become part of their ecosystem, rituals and ceremonies hearing their chimes and bells. I dunno what it is about pitched down vocals but I’m an absolute sucker for them and the way they’re utilized on this record really feels like we’re in this place inhabited by peculiar entities. The landscape and environment feels vast - we can hear its creatures, insects, birds and hear its streams flowing. Both ominous and enchanting, ‘Voyage Sacrifice’ is highly evocative of worlds beyond our own, magnificently mystical and brilliantly realised. This one will make you leave the planet - LSD/DMT on wax.
