Loyalty Does Not End With Death is the final instalment of a spoken-word trilogy of albums by Swedish film director Carl Abrahamsson and Throbbing Gristle’s Genesis Breyer P-Orridge, the first part of which, incredibly, dates back to 1990. Recorded in New York and Stockholm over the last couple of years, it matches warm ambience with dark poetry.

Even my Mum knows who Genesis Breyer P-Orridge is so I’ll spare the introduction. However, Carl Abrahamsson isn’t as well known as the self-proclaimed “Cultural Engineer”, so, a little background… 'Loyalty Does Not End With Death' is the closing part in a collaborative trilogy that began with the Psychick TV & White Stains 1990 LP 'At Stockholm' followed by ‘Wordship’ from Thee Majesty & Cotton Ferox in 2004. They’ve reunited, using their own names for my money what is the finest in the trilogy - released on Joachim Nordwall’s ever crucial iDEAL Recordings label.

Genesis’ prose is typically transgressive, thought-provoking, often profound and delivered with all the utterly convincing charisma of a cult leader. Combined with Abrahamsson’s stirring backdrop of electronics and meditative ambient soundscapes, it feels as though we’re being guided through a psychedelic/mystical experience. Subject matter includes pandrogyny, William Burroughs, love, mortality, magick and the pain of living. The sounds and words operate in total harmony, making for a record that’s absolutely engrossing.
