Australian singer/songwriter Carla dal Forno makes spooky, spacious music with a voice reminiscent of Nico. Following her atmospheric masterpiece You Know What It’s Like on Blackest Ever Black in 2016 she has released a couple of EPs. Now she has set up her own label, Kallista, for a new 7”, So Much Better.

You learn something literally every day. Carla dal Forno used to be in F Ingers. Didn't know that. Anyway she's one of those artists who despite the slathering adulation heaped on her by the Wire and the Quietus is actually really good. The lead track here is a wonderful slow moving thing with eerie sounds over a slowed down bass and beats. Her vocals sound almost identical to those of Alison Statton (Young Marble Giants) and her lyrics have a personal intimate feel that allows the listener to connect despite the near dislocating sounds of her hazed out music.
Over on the flip there's an instrumental track that showcases her ability to make sounds that seem to soundtrack the viewing of a run of electricity pylons glinting in the afternoon sun. It's eerie, it's evocative, it's excellent.
