Back to the old style for Proem, checking in on the more experimental ends of electronica to see what can be done. Until Here For Years uses abstract details and pieces of data related to synths and such to seed expansive pieces that should viscerally delight as much as thoughtfully intrigue. Released by n5MD.

Drums so clear its like your ears are wired into the output of whatever holy medium Richard Bailey uses to makes his beats, bass that's fatter and fuller than a captive lion, and the way that these components are always only moments away from destroying themselves by cycling in upon themselves. These are the elements that make up the legendary Proem's new record, 'Until Here For Years'. What's not to love about this record? It sounds modern but classic in the same way that 'Selected Ambient Works' does. Every track is simply a banger.
I think my favourite element of this record is the way that the beats and the instrumentation seem to react with each other. The effect is one that's incredibly psychedelic. 'Until Here For Years' has a way of descending into loops and cycles that is wholly engaging. Just take 'Pine The Bear', which sounds like someone is fast-forwarding through a piece of music, then playing it on 2x speed. 'Chair Reaction', too, is chocka-block with subtle yet manic shifts in timbre and feel. It's probably clear that I'm finding it hard to describe this record, but perhaps that's all the praise needed. It's a record that engages you to simply listen, rather than try and formulate it.
