I've been listening to this album of woozy shoegaze whilst getting very angry about ...oh....you know... people! The album has flitted along in the background neither offending me neither making me sit up and take much notice of it at all. The opening track The Drain has the exact same chord change of a Dinosaur Jr song I just can't place in my mind. Over the top of which Linnea Sigglekow coos in a sort of blandly seductive way. The most innovative thing about the record is that the band name Ellis comes from her initials  - LS. She's obviously used up the time she could have spent on a new and original sound on this little bit of clever word play.

But I'm being grumpily unfair. Not everything has to innovate. This is a dreamy record that sound like a kind of Stateside take on Slowdive  - the guitars are all effected to the max for full on dream pop and there's some haunting chord changes to keep emotions on the edge. Production is agreeable mid-fi too.  Like I said  - it didn't get turned off which these days is quite the accolade.
