Carson McHone is, obviously, an alt-country artist. Her new album Carousel is an eleven track set of good stuff, with a bit of modern (sixties) influences in there along with the honk and the tonk. If you are doing country, you’ve got to do it right, and Carson has the songwriting and the vocal chops to pull it off with style. Out on Loose.

If you are a fan of the Loose Music roster then there is a good chance that you will find plenty to enjoy in Carson McHone's new album. However, if you are more likely to buy a Loose release based on the artist, then you may find this a little too 'country' for your tastes. This is certainly quite a long way from Frontier Ruckus, or The Handsome Family. There are some slight similarities to the sounds of Courtney Marie Andrews, such as on 'Drugs' which includes some lovely slide guitar, but a lot of the time this is a straight down the middle country record, and opener 'Bad' is more of a reflection of the vibe found throughout.
