A collection of piano pieces inspired by mechanical toys, dolls, puppets and the circus sounds like it could soundtrack a freaky horror film, but this is Pianette by Bruno Sanfilippo. This is about the positive and pleasant memories that these things invoke. And, of course, it will be beautiful. Digipak CD on ad21.

Bruno Sanfilippo brings us more neo-classical goodness in the form of 'Pianette' apparently inspired by dreams, mechanical toys, dolls, the circus and puppets. Blimey. What you get here is a damn fine slice of solo piano based tunes that are most rewarding. Sanfilippo has a habit of creating music that is both beautiful and overflowing with sadness, and that is par for the course on this release. The title track (and album opener) is a great example of this, and it's tenderness is just lovely (check out the soundcloud link). If you like that then you should enjoy the rest of the album too. Packaged in a lovely digipak sleeve, it's 45 minutes very well spent. Just have the hankies at the ready.
