If you’ve at least half a rave damaged brain cell remaining in your scone, you must have clocked Mumdance’s ‘Shared Meanings’ mix. Here’s an opportunity to score some of the highlights on wax. We get five cuts, beginning with Mumdance & Logos 'Teachers' which is basically their version of Daft Punk’s track of the same name, where they give shout-outs to hardcore, jungle, grime, bleep n bass, techno etc. innovators and pioneers. Everyone from Forgemasters, Regis, Metalheadz, Colin Dale, Joey Beltram, So Solid, A Guy Called Gerald, Suburban Base, Roll Deep and so many more all get a mention in this acid-laced “respect to the underground” roll call. The ever wonderful Caterina Barbieri’s track ‘Molecular Illusion’ is a beautiful example of her minimal modular synth music that manages to conjure so much mood and energy as it evolves. Anyone that dug her pair of albums on important Records should feel this for sure. Peder Mannerfelt places juddering beats under a ravey/hardcore motif on ‘Over My Face’, while Nkisi (Arcola, UIQ) goes for the jugular with beats that are like being trampled over by a herd of elephants, alongside wailing sirens. Space Afrika (Where To Now?, Sferic) contribute ‘After They Entered It Was Only Evident’ in their vaporous dubby ambient style. Just lay back and let this one dissolve you. The Mumdance mix is great and all, but it’s also cool to hear/own these tracks in their entirety and listen outside of the context of his remarkably assembled mix.

Limited edition of 400 stamped copies, cut by the professionals at D&M, Berlin.
