Another collection of Italian library compositions here. This new Sonor Music Editions release focuses on the output of Cicci Santucci’s 1970s endeavour New Tape. Santucci was a member of Rai TV’s in-house orchestra, a role that made him well-placed when it came to finding composers doing interesting work in the film music world. The dozen tracks of New Tape showcase a label whose output that ran the full gamut of jazz-indebted incidental fare. Bossa Nova, ‘60s beat, David Axelrod-ish big band music and more all get a look in.
