Lovely to see this getting the reissue treatment. As the nights draw in and winter starts to hit this seems like the perfect soundtrack, unless you want to keep warm of course. Recorded live in Geir Jenssen's home town of Tromsø in Norway, during October 1995, Jenssen along with Bobby Bird of Higher Intelligence Agency use a wide variety of sounds from the local area including snow and ice (of course!) to create an unsettling and icy blast of dark ambient. Muffled beats do manage to break through the gloom at times such as on opening track 'Cimmerian Shaft' which is illuminated briefly after a clanking drawn out intro. 'Snapshot Survey' features trademark buried voices in the mix, whereas 'Countdown To darkness' is strangley one of the most upbeat tracks on the album. It's certainly no party album, but a worthy addition to the Biosphere reissue programme, and should appeal to fans of Lustmord, Thomas Köner etc.
