Here they are, the worst named band in the entire universe but one which has a rather palatable sound which will appeal to fans of Mazzy Star, Low and Galaxie 500. Here is a one off single following on from their much loved debut album with two tracks which have yet to see the light of day. Let's forget smoking after intercourse and just swoon to the sounds.

Cigarettes After Sex are currently the best band on the planet at writing the same song over and over again. Their atmospheric, glacial sound recalls Low, Mazzy Star and Red House Painters. Each songs begins with a lovely guitar riff, before dropping down to just bass, vocals and drums before re-introducing the guitar back in just before the chorus. After the chorus is over it drops back down to the core bass and drums before again the guitar comes back in. Over and over again they do this and over and over it works. 'Crush' is just lovely - it has a brilliant resolution of the chorus which elevates it near to classic status. Greg Gonzalez doesn't even have that good of a voice but it doesn't need to be great to carry this. It's an excellent song.
Sesame Syrup, as you might expect does the same. The opening guitar riff leaves just as the vocals come in leaving bare bass and drums before emerging back in just before a lovely chorus. It's like Low's 'Words' with light and warmth. This one off single bodes very well for the next album. If you can't get enough of this sound you are going to love this. Superb.
