Kids these days eh? They are so relaxed about things. Check out Value Void a rather cute proposition who make neat poppy guitar stuff that the press release describes rather accurately as 'shag-pile warm'. The two main protagonists come from Buernos Aries but now live in that London. One writes lyrics, one writes songs - put them together and you get this warm stuff.
It's hard to get an exact comparison but their sound has hints of 'Allo Darlin' a smudge of Warpaint and a soupcon of Aussie spindle pop like the Lucksmiths. It's all warm and fluffy but the track I'm enjoying most is 'Back In The Day' which has a hint of menace to it as a dark bassline descends and contrasts nicely with Marta Zabala's vocals. It's these moments which provide the grit not to make the whole thing a bit forgettably sweet. Sometimes I want them to really go for it and blast one of their songs at me but, as I said, they are young and relaxed - they go at their own pace.
In summary: lovely swoony and cute DIY pop that shakes no pigeons from the roof but there are many many worse ways to spend half an hour.
