1968’s The Invasion is one of the many parts of Doctor Who franchise that gets fans all hot and bothered. An eight-part serial directed by Douglas Camfield, some of the show’s original tapes were lost pretty soon after it aired. How, then, do we now have a soundtrack release for it? Well - fortunately composer Don Harper kept a ‘composer’s copy’ that, though different from the final cut, was enough to work from. Augmented by the BBC Radiophonic Workshop’s Brian Hodgson and interspersed with cut music from John Baker, The Invasion is a good cop for Whovians and casual watchers alike.
