Something of a Daptone Records love-in here. The Sha La Das are three Staten Island brothers (surname Schalda, hence the moniker of the group) who grew up singing backing harmonies for their dad Bill, himself a one-time member of 1960s doo-wop group The Montereys. When Menahan Street Band founder Thomas Brenneck got wind of their talent, he teamed up with Bill to write the eleven instant Daptone classics that make up Love In The Wind. Bill and his sons are backed by the MSB here, the group that anchored the late Charles Bradley.

Who likes old things? Well I do. Really old stuff like books and televisions and radios and things we don't use anymore. If you like old stuff you are going to like this album by three singing brothers and a dad known as the Sha De Las. It's the sort of music you could imagine playing at a Saltaire vintage fair i.e authentically old fashioned.
It's harmony drenched doo-dop and old school soul from the Daptone family (Sharon Jones, Charles Bradley). Beautifully reconstructed harmony pop that sounds like it hasn't peeped out of it's cubby hole since 1965. Dad Bill was around was in vocal groups in the 1960s so he knows how to make music covered with 60s dust and this is exquisitely put together using only the best musicians who know exactly how to re-create the vintage sounds.
The songs have that yearning, melancholic feel, their squeaky East Coast harmonies perfectly realised. It's bygone but beautiful. Sick of Magic Soul FM playing the same songs over and over? This will give you something new but old to enjoy.
