Television Themes by Matt Berry

The Voice himself aka Matt Berry comes through with a typically zany collection. Along with his band The Maypoles, Berry has reinterpreted several of his favourite television themes - hence the LP being called ... Television Themes - from days of yore. ‘Blankety Blank’, ‘Doctor Who’, ‘Rainbow’ and more are reimagined in a library-ish style here. Naff as hell, but all the better for it.

Remember Are You Being Served? Great theme tune that. Ronnie Hazelhurst wasn't it?

Remember The Good Life? Two little birds on the opening credits, like an egg hatching. Penelope Keith and her souffle's.

Remember Blankety Blank? Classic Hazelhurst. Sort of like Steve Reich with a bit of Stereolab thrown in. Les Dawson was a genius wasn't he?

Remember Top of the Pops? Every Thursday. Led Zeppelin or Phil Lynott. Which was best?

Remember Picture Box? Should have been on Ghost Box

Remember Rainbow?  Ah Geoffrey Hayes RIP. Remember the first Bungle? Terrifying. Rod Jane and Freddy  - what were they about?

Remember Doctor Who? Delia Derbyshire wasn't it? Classic. Original theme one was the best. Remember hiding behind the sofa?

Remember Sorry? "Language Timothy!" Boards of Canada did the theme tune didn't they?

Remember Wildtrack? Remember World In Action? Remember The Liver Birds? Remember the Thames Television ident thing? Tyne Tees? Remember Neville Wanless? Remember Revers Kyle?
