Minus The Bear bring their 17-year career to an end with the release of Fair Enough EP. Their career has seen them build up a cult following with six albums and at least two handfuls of singles and EPs. Their sound marries dark subject matter with a brand of indie rock that will get you up on your feet. LP and CD on Suicide Squeeze.

Always leave them with an EP. I think a EP is a nice way to close off a career - a little taster of what might have come had they bothered to stick together. Though on Suicide Squeeze and therefore easy fodder to band around Death Cab For Cutie comparisons, Minus the Bear have a more grandiose stadium emo theme to them. I'd like the title track if it weren't for the synth buzzing around. It's kind of hopeless and pointless, singlehandedly destroying the atmospheres the guitars have built up. If that track is a bit ploddy then 'Viaduct' is more like their earlier work with tangling guitars and a real emo feel to the vocals. 'Dinosaur' meanwhile is a nice plaintive guitar ballad that has the right level of Gibbard-esque melancholy to feel like a true career closer.
So Fair Enough does what these EPs tend to do, round up a few leftovers that suggest possible futures for the band. Certainly worthy as a short annexe to their career.
