Legendary doom crushers Reverend Bizzare would always put in a double shift on their records, matching their massive, spiteful sound with a whole bunch of unholy humour. This record starts with a polite request to "Burn In Hell" and ends with a Lord of the Rings reference, a tongue-in-cheek acknowledgement that what they're doing is as silly as it is filthy. Their first record, In the Rectory of the Bizarre Reverend, was originally released in 2002 and is a staple of all things doom: loud, slow and long, it clocks at 75 minutes and never once lets up. An absolute classic of Finnish metal.
