Three Lobed Recordings (Hiss Golden Messenger, Six Organs Of Admittance) release a new LP from the highly impressive Daniel Bachman. The Morning Star is an evocative mix of psychedelic organ drones, American folk/blues guitar and found sounds. As the low rumbles slowly unspool his artfully shonky six-string playing often stumbles upon moments of profound beauty. Think Richard Dawson, Ian William Craig and Panda Bear.

8/10 Richard Customer review, 22nd August 2018
I briefly hesitated at the asking price for this double LP, but when I had learnt that it comprises of over 70 minutes of music I figured it was worth the cash, and I was not wrong. Having been a fan of Daniel Bachman's previous work it's great to see him develop his sound further on 'The Morning Star'. You still get tunes that are very much in the tradition of his earlier work which itself can be likened to work by John Fahey, Glenn Jones etc. but there is much more of an experimental edge to the tracks on display here, with drones and bells, plus filed recordings prominent. If you like Pelt's work then it's very likely you will like this too. Great gatefold package, and beautifully pressed with a download code. Not an easy listen at times but highly recommended.
