I’m totally smitten with this Jay Glass Dubs record. I’m fairly sure the foundation of the three dubs here is Sade’s ‘The Sweetest Taboo’, all refracted through his signature dubwise prism.
‘The Warmest Dub’ is probably my favourite of the three - like beaming solar rays gleaming out of the speakers and just totally melting me. A glorious, joyous track with magical, tropical marimba and dubby bass. Think Peaking Lights circa ‘936’ meets Sueño Latino or something. Absolute heaven. The ‘Safest Dub’ is equally magnificent and hypnotizes as it loops seductively with fragments of vocals dissolving into the smoke.
On the flipside ‘The Sweetest Dub’ is more spacious - stoned, slow-mo, dubby, 80’s style pop. Kinda like Sly & Robbie meets ‘Moments In Love’ by Art of Noise on some tranquil exotic island.
