Mannequin Records (Alessandro Adriani, Doris Norton) have an offshoot called Death Of The Machines which they use to debut experimental club fare. They’ve struck gold with High Waisted, a four-track EP by Bristolian group Giant Swan. The duo have previously released on labels including FuckPunk and Timedance, and the tunes here operate in the space between the sounds of those imprints. That is to say, think Total Leatherette going b2b with Blawan.

Blistering four-track EP from this mighty Bristol duo on Alessandro Adriani’s always on point Mannequin label. All four cuts are proper gnarly, rough and rugged and in keeping with the labels ‘Death of the Machines’ 12” series which has dispensed fine records from JASSS, December, Fallbeil, and Raw Ambassador.
First up is the stompin’ ‘The Rest of His Voice’ with its sharp laser-like zinging synth motifs and detached f/x laden vox echoing into blurry trails. Then comes disturbed, opiated electro fizzer ‘Architectural Hangover’. Over on the flip lurks pounding and clonking militant banger ‘High Waisted’ with its malfunctioning robotic metal clanging. It simmers down midway into a frenzy of ecstatic noise and garbled vox before booting back in with driving intent. ‘Palm’ relinquishes the beats and goes into some freaky cyborg seance zone.
