Brazilian metal band Sepultura originally released their fourth album, Arise, in 1991. It had the sound of a band really getting it together and was the album that multiplied their fan base. This expanded edition features the original album, gloriously remastered, with 28 previously unreleased tracks on the CD version. The Double LP version will have fewer additional tracks. On Rhino.

9/10 Ben Straughair Customer review, 21st June 2018

Being a poor Teessider back in the day, I couldn't afford this outstanding LP upon its original release in 1991. I did have the CD though and it got thrashed daily (no pun intended). I'm really pleased to have been able to get this recently re-released expanded vinyl edition. The cover art is gorgeous on this larger format, suitably metal, aptly theatrical and the tunes on it are great.

Sepultura's - Arise was a bell tolled for that 'Big Thrash' scene of the late 80's & 90's as much as it was a cursed promise that the genre would return to its former glory. With a torrent of Slayer, Metallica and Megadeath re-releases around this last couple of years it is then fitting that this album has arisen too. Faves for me are the title track, Dead Embryonic Cells and Desperate Cry, the latter being one I used to be able to jellyfish to, but now as an older gent I cant do that anymore, but I can Baldbang! Speedy widdler lead guitars, saw blade power ripping riffs, throaty warbles & guttural utterances comprise the nineteen track double vinyl testament to a pinnacle of the genre. There are a fair few bonuses on there to, with live versions, writing sessions and remixes. What more could you want under a pale grey sky?
