Chile’s Thanatoloop (Michel Leroy Valdés) has over forty albums behind him and they keep on coming. The title of this one Resilencia: resistencia y muerte en los dias del capitalismo voraz (Resistance and death in the age of capitalism) gives you a pretty good idea of its subject matter. Themes of frustration and resistance are handled by tracks such as ‘San Sename’, which sounds like intense industrial/coldwave vibes produced - for once - in a gritty modern way that doesn’t attempt to recreate 1980s textures. Later, hope and care are given time to prevail, such as in ‘Expresiones’.
