Reissue of an LP by the man they used to call ‘Mr. Rocksteady’. After a string of hits for Studio One in the 60s, Ken Boothe took his style to Leslie Kong’s Beverley Records in 1970. Freedom Street, the resulting album, is full of great songs - the title track is a masterpiece of Jamaican soul - and proves a great outlet for Boothe’s wonderful, Wilson Pickett-esque voice. This is the first-ever vinyl reissue, courtesy of Real Gone Music.
