If you’ve only seen one film from South Korea, chances are it’s Oldboy. Park Chan-wook’s neo-noir masterpiece has gained cult status for many reasons, one of which is its innovative soundtrack. Yeong-wook Jo’s score took in many influences - Spaghetti Western soundtracks, Hans Zimmer-style strings, darkside electronica, grunge and more - and managed to synthesise them into an evocative whole. The music serves to join the dots between The Matrix, Kill Bill and Inglorious Basterds. This first-ever vinyl reissue comes just in time for Record Store Day.
