The second Wrong LP to get the Relapse seal of approval seems to have been titled in jest. Feel Great consists of music you wouldn’t usually associate with feeling great. The Miami group’s abrasive noise-metal is the sort of stuff you’d use to exorcise demons or purge bad spirits. It’s a mighty sound. Wrong features members of TORCHE, Capsule and Kylesa.

Relapse supergroup hour! At this point in history you kinda just have to accept that every noisy band is prepared to team up with another one to create the biggest, baddest churn, but I’m still over the moon about Wrong, which combines Torche, Capsule and Kylesa members together into one crusty championship of disdain. The hilariously named ‘Feel Great’ is fast and furious and occasionally plays the fool.
They don’t relent, but the band’s crusty disembowelment is joined by a kinda snarky vocal performance and broth of silly metal riffs that gives it some semblance of breathing room: the near-clean vocals of the record’s title track join squeaky guitars before doubling down on the brick-wall chords and putrid rhythm section that makes the band so good: they encase you in their sound and occasionally give you the tiniest gap of light.
And you can hear their true selves pouring in, too: “Upgrade” has the kind of remote, echoing noise scowl that Kylesa made so good on ‘Static Tensions’, and I’m all about that. I’m all about Torche and Kylesa and Capsule being Torche and Kylesa and Capsule, but merged like the end of a Monopoly game. Buy this and swirl your way to the grave.
