Louis Johnstone is a restless creature of many aliases, and best known for the ultra-minimal collaged field recordings of Wanda Group. His intimate home recordings as Henry Caravan shrug off any semblance of artifice. This tape is a foray into rambling but unexpectedly fluent acoustic guitar improv that hints at Derek Bailey, Jandek and even Robbie Basho, occasionally embellished with spontaneous lyrical murmurs and audible nasal congestion. “Authenticity” can become a troublesome hang-up, but the utter lack of desire to impress here feels like an act of trust towards the listener.
