Beta Blockers are a Leeds/Sheffield punk band formed from members of The Flex, No Form, Whipping Post and Community. Stiff Prescription is their new 12” on which they blast through 7 songs in 18 minutes. To get their sound, imagine unlikely unions between Die Kreuzen and The Screamers, Einstürze Neubauten and Black Flag or even The Stooges and Oasis! Limited to 300 copies, white vinyl, on Static Shock Records.

Extremely good noisy psych-punk by people who are both running away from you and running right for you. Thrashing at a distance, Beta Blockers make a racket real fast and without warning. Each bit of it is going to grate your ears into pieces and that’s all I really have to say about it.
Also it rules. It’s no surprise a band containing members No Form, Whipping Post and the Flex can make a record of dissonance-warped noise this invigorating and this catchy, but they also give out the palpitations: the droning interludes that break up the record of nauseating, blocks of evil drone that throb in the muk. Dark Souls. Then it’s back to it with the fast, frenzied hardcore they make so well, from underneath sheets of ghostly weird. The psychedelic flavour of its production gives you a little head start, but this record's definitely going to obliterate your evening's peace and quiet. Heavy rec.
