On only his second album, Issac Hayes had managed to acquire complete artistic control, resulting in one of the most groundbreaking soul albums of any era. Containing only four long tracks, the album is dominated by Hayes’ legendary elongations of Walk On By and By the Time I Get to Phoenix. New remaster, housed in a tip-on jacket.

8/10 Jack Customer review, 30th January 2018

Isaac Hayes is known as "Black Moses." I don't know if Hayes could walk on water but he is one smooth soul-brother. "Hot Buttered Soul" is a very intriguing album. It contains only four songs. The first two funky and faster-paced than the last two. You could say it was an album ahead of it's time. Again what's amazing is that a song like Public Enemy's "Black Steel in The Hour of Chaos" took a twenty second part of a 10 minute song like "Hyperbolic..." and made a whole song out of it. This album is a fine sample of the music and the genius behind Isaac Hayes.
