Everything is ok.
The world might be about to explode but you'd be forgiven for thinking that everything is ok after listening to the soothing sounds of this latest release on Time Released Sound. London based Portuguese the wonderfully named Ruben Vale made these things and on opening track the twelve minute 'St No' has come up with a piece that should be prescribed to anyone suffering from the anxiety of the modern age. It differs from the other tracks here in that it has a floaty almost dub techno feel to it with billowing synths shrouded in fog but out of that comes pretty piano lines that scatter over the mix. It really is quite breathtakingly attractive.
The remainder of the LP whilst being enormously pretty doesn't quite have the same emotional punch but there's nothing here you'd turn off. I particularly like 'Skopi' a slow burning combination of synth and piano. This is utterly perfect soundtrack fodder and if Vale doesn't get some commissions out of this then...well.. I don't have a clue what I'm talking about (possibly true). Very pretty cinematic stuff for fans of Dustin O'Halloran, Nils Frahm and Stars of the Lid.
