With the gritty, non-fi Chinoiseries trilogy officially concluded, Onra returns somewhat to the crispy, soulful retrofunk style found on 2010’s Long Distance. He’s clearly quite at home within broken-beat neo-funk’s juxtaposition between whiffy 1980s cheese and the contemporary excess of sidechain punches. As the title suggests, Nobody Has To Know sees the Parisian tuning this style to the sensual aromas of glitzy, adulterous intrigue.
