Here is a first vinyl press for Death and Vanilla's unreleased live score for 'The Tenant' (Roman Polanski). They recorded it in 2015 in Spain alongside a showing of the film and shows the bands at their most cinematic, avant garde and minimalist. Amazing that people still have anything to do with Polanski's work but it's a funny old world.

In which Death and Vanilla’s core trio (Marleen Nilsson, Anders Hansson and Magnus Bodin) take time out from crafting evocative slices of ‘60s psych-pop pastiche to make (OK once more, following ‘Vampyr’) a haunting, eerie soundtrack to Polanski’s 1976 finale to his 'apartment’ trilogy: The Tenant.
The atmosphere the band has created here is apposite to the film: slow, creeping electronics combine with muted yet unsettling percussion; the hanging chimes of glockenspiel / metallophone hover ominously and a painstakingly unwinding farfisa drones throughout, to eke out an appropriately foreboding and claustrophobic ambience. Darkly cinematic stuff.
