Black Editions’ reissue program of the catalogue of Tokyo’s P.S.F. Records continues with this 1986 recording. Asahito Nanjo’s trio had a relatively traditional and stripped-down approach to psychedelia, rooted in the speedfreak biker rock’n’roll of Blue Cheer, with viciously over-saturated distortion and manic pentatonic soloing. It’s a simple but brutally effective sound that was a revelation when it finally began to make an impact on this side of the globe over a decade later - especially as no Western band had come close. Lavish presentation as we’ve already come to expect from this label.
