Another Side of Bob Dylan is the great man’s fourth album, put out in 1964 while the world was really waking up to him. Another Side is solo Dylan, nice and direct, with his unique voice standing alone apart from guitar and harmonica. The tracklisting includes classics like ‘It Ain’t Me Babe’. Vinyl reissue from Columbia.

This has always been one of my favourite Dylan albums. As odd as it may sound, this collection of songs created a minor earthquake at the time among the hardcore folk crowd. Rather than protest anthems, it is filled with personal reflections and love songs. While "Bringing It All Back Home", his next album, marked the use of electric instruments in his songs, this album really shows Bob Dylan moving away from the protest song genre and exploring a few new roads. I read once he recorded it in one night with some friend sitting around the studio drinking some wine.
