6/10 Tom Customer review, 30th May 2018

"Who's Wings?" "They're only the band the Beatles could have been." In one short exchange Alan Partridge managed to crystalise the central ridiculousness of Paul McCartney's post-Beatles band Wings. They've been much-maligned (rightly so for the most part) because Wings gave McCartney free-reign to go wherever he wanted musically without being tempered by John Lennon and George Harrison's more cynical outlook, which means that every nod to schmaltzy music hall or faux-reggae went unchecked leaving McCartney to explore some of his most cringeworthy instincts. Band on the Run is probably the best Wings album in as much as it contains fewer crap songs than the rest of them. Although overblown, the title track has a lot of good moments (especially the opening section), 'Jet' is dumb but fun, and 'Let Me Roll It' is a nice reminder that Paul loved to blaze. If you let it wash over you, Band on the Run is pleasant enough but once again it highlights how much of the Beatles' brilliance came from the three songwriters trying to outdo one another.

10/10 Jack Customer review, 27th November 2017

This is absolutely my favourite Paul McCartney and Wings release. It is good from beginning to end. The only song that doesn't grab your attention instantly is Mamunia but after a few listens It kicks in. All the others were either hits, concert favourites or radio staples at some point. If you like the Beatles' music, then do yourself a favour and get this. One of the best albums of the entire 70's. Beatles enthusiasts, fans of 70's rock and fans of good music regardless of era will love this album.
