An essential box set that combines the legacies of Tresor and Scopex together, reissuing material from Simulant and Pollon. The basis of the release is drum machines and synth arpeggios, but the diversity of even this refined fragment of wider electronic music is clear, especially in Pollon's tracks.

Scopex 1998-2000 by Various 1 review. Add your own review. 9/10

9/10 Staff review, 21 November 2017

The collective prayers of fellow electro fiends have finally been answered as Tresor celebrate their 300th release with this almighty four 12-inch set to coincide with the 20th anniversary of the Scopex label. The UK imprint released a mere three, near-mythical records between 1998 and 2000 yet managed to become the stuff of legend. To this day nobody knows who the hell the truly enigmatic people behind this label and these productions were. Just who the fuck are Pollon and Simulant? Are they even human? These tunes sound more like the cybernetic work of aliens. You’d be looking at the best part of 300 big ones to bag original copies of these three records, but now you can get hold of all three records, all remastered from DAT for ten percent of that cost, plus an additional 12-inch featuring previously unreleased Simulant cut ‘Optimal Flow’ recorded back in 2000. It’s a freakin’ belter and all - that bassline is coursing through my body and got me writhing orgasmically. This one is a real no-brainer and unlikely to hang about for too long, so you know what to do. All fans of sci-fi, futuristic electro should buy on sight. It’s a proper stonker! I know I sound a bit like Swiss Tony trying to flog a car, but this is a hugely exciting Holy Grail reissue and not just some pointless vinyl version of a CD you can pick up for like a quid.
