It's easy to take an artist like Deepchord for granted. He churns out album after album, EP after EP of glorious dreamy techno and as a result you can find yourself ignoring half of them as there'll be another one along in a minute that you might catch. Of late he's released this EP and a follow up album Auratones but as time is limited I'm going to take a listen to the EP. Actually, there's another reason. Yesterday during another unbelievably stressful day at the towers, I found myself nestling in its beauty as a way of escapism.
It comprises four tracks, the first of which, 'Cirriforms', is just splendid. A slow moving drift of kick drum and pads building to a circular repeating melody that entices you in and lets you wallow in total ambient beauty for awhile. More upbeat and dancefloor friendly is 'Sky Maps' with some skittering synths and swishing production touches moving at quick pace, like stone across the waves. 'Crystal Horizons' is a more dubby affair with some serious bliss out whilst the closing 'Sand and Sea' perhaps gives the EP it's theme with some unbelievably beautiful synths cascading across some low end barely there beats.
Beautiful music that takes you where your mind wants to wander.
