If making a sequel to the film Blade Runner wasn’t enough of a challenge already, how about composing the sequel to its Vangelis soundtrack? Hans Zimmer and Ben Wallfisch have answered that question with big booming bass throbs and snatches of Vangelis-esque synth electronics. It sounds great on the big screen, and it’ll probably sound great played loud on your stereo too. Blade Runner 2049’s soundtrack is released by Sony Music Classical.

As a post-millennial I quite enjoy the somewhat over-the-top synthesizers in Vangelis' original Blade Runner score - it's what the kids want nowadays (see: Stranger Things). However, I feel like it has somewhat been lost within Zimmer's new score for the upcoming sequel. This one just takes itself a little too seriously. I should've expected this, coming from Hans - if you are looking to buy yourself a recent score from him do yourself a favour and go and buy the soundtrack for Dunkirk which is bloody amazing, you'll thank me later.
