Nat Fowler aka Novo Line returns with his third release for Not Waving’s Ecstatic label with an album that encourages playing at both 33rpm and 45rpm and experimenting with the pitch slider. I get the real sense that this guy has a lot of affection for his machines - choosing to use old gear with an inventive approach that utilizes his trusty old Atari ST with slight algorhythmic alteration to make them sing in new ways. His approach to techno/EBM/house or whatever you wanna call it is refreshingly clunky in comparison to most modern slick tracks as they stumble and tumble along. It’s pretty good fun to mess about with - ‘Tetrad’ for example stomps along sluggishly at 33rpm like some demented downer New Beat mutant and at 45rpm goes full on Belgian rave mayhem.
