Elder’s debut album Elder took the psych stoner rock world by storm in 2007. Now, not only has Elder been remastered for your pleasure for its tenth anniversary - it also includes a reputedly rougher and heavier album Elder recorded prior to Elder, before they were even called Elder. A solid 180g coloured vinyl edition for the fans. Elder.

Since 2008, Elder have gained a lot of attention and praise for their strangely appealing soundscapes that incorporates some sort of stoner rock influence, especially in the guitars and vocals. On their debut full-length, the trio seem to take most of their influences from the mighty doom metal trifecta of Black Sabbath, Sleep and Electric Wizard and when your primary influences come from those three bands in particular, you really can’t go wrong! Tracks such as 'White Walls' and 'Riddle of Steel Pt.1' are perfect examples of putting those influences to good use. Nick Disalvo’s guitar playing is very fluid throughout, pulling off catchy guitar lines which aren't that common in the stoner/doom spectrum, and his vocal performance reminds me a bit of Matt Pike (of High on Fire). This is a mighty fine debut that got Elder off to a pretty good start and since then, they've managed to get even better with time.
