8/10 Robin Staff review, 29 November 2017

Here’s a noisy retrospective of uncaring punx crew Bad Daddies, who channel some elements of no frills old-skool while also full-on screeching into feedback, lopsided snarling and grinding noisemaking. Songs range from nineteen seconds (the best song length) to a gruesome two minutes and forty five secs, the band generally playing fast and loose and seeing how far they can carry a chord progression before running out of steam and moving the heck on.

The hooks get time to exist, don’t worry: “Not That Kind of Girlfriend” is catchy as hell, somehow offering a songful tune amidst the sludgy guitar tone. The lo-fi thrash and slosh makes it hard to distinguish the band from the ‘90s to the oughties -- though much of this material came from 2011, their sound scatters anachronistically through the punk timeline. They also just rule: they go fast, they scowl, and sometimes it sounds like they’re playing super tight songs on super broken instruments. Comes with a 36-page zine interview that can distill their history far more eloquently, if you like.
