Psychedelic Witchcraft are a heavy stonerish hard doom rock band from Italy with some classic and proggy touches, precisely as their name requires. Sound Of The Wind is grand and crunchy, weighted down with chewy riffs and Virginia Monti’s epic vocal performances. Sound Of The Wind is released by Listenable Records.

Yep. Just go ahead and throw “psychedelic” into the name right there. Go right ahead. Good. Yeah some annoying guy will make it the lede in his dumb review for some useless record store in some godforsaken city in Yorkshire but that’s fine.
They are actually a psych band, but only kinda. Their stonerisms and doomerplasms made 2016’s ‘The Vision’ quite the treat for fans of throwback metal, offering a slow, hard rocking pastiche with the more crooked elements of Black Sabbath and the clear-cut snarls of Blues Pills. On ‘Sound of the Wind’ they make a free-flowing collection of riffy metal strategies, occasionally offering high concepts, movie samples and squelching synths in an attempt to make something serious (or just ominous?) of a really rockin’ record. Sometimes allowances must be made to prog. So the saying goes.
The guitars are crunchy and fierce while the vocals steer clear, going clean as a whistle with stupendous melodic grandstanding. So it’s that kinda heavy, eh? Whatever the case, it’s another great attempt at getting the led out by a band fully immersed in the jagged edges of old-school.
