Lush and lively electronic pop music from Hirola, released on Phantom Limb on tape. It's as energising as it is dramatic and emotionally open. This makes sense given the previous acts of members LTO and edapollo. This self titled album is a wonderful combination of soaring highs and detailed production.

Hirola, then. They’d appear to be a Bristolian duo of wistful-beat-makers, namely LTO (of Old Apparatus) and edapollo. They channel those slightly melancholic (sub)urban sundown feels using the synth wash and the pads in minor keys, plus post-dubstep beats (sometimes perilously close to d’n’b, in my opinion) and whispery singing. I’m sorry I don’t know which of these guys contributes his pipes.
Anyway, there are some very pretty and evocative sounds here, believe you me. Their self-titled mini-album is a cassette-only release on the Phantom Limb label (PHNTMT001) and is limited to a one-off run of 100 copies, naturally. (And the record was mastered by master masterer, Taylor Deupree... no less). It won’t be around long, folks.
